1) Can I get assistance or advice on selection of my racehorse?
Spencer Knight personally attends all the major yearling sales in Australia and New Zealand. Spencer has extensive experience in analysing and assessing racehorse conformation and movement biodynamics at the walk, trot and canter and also employs expert pedigree analysts to meticulously select the best possible young racehorse at the best possible price. He also has extensive contacts throughout Australasia for sourcing tried older horses that suit Western Australian racing conditions. He is happy to consult with all prospective owners and personally select the horse that fits the desired racing requirements of each owner, or group of owners.
2) What Vet Clinics do you use?
Bunbury has two very good clinics available to the local horse community. Both vet clinics have highly qualified equine vets that are available and on call 24 hours a day.
3) Which farrier do you use?
My stable only uses the very best farriers we can source as we are well aware that a bad farrier can interrupt a horse's training program and cause financial loss to clients due to poor racetrack performance.
4) Will you notify me of my horse’s progress?
Yes, our business prides itself on the fact that we keep our owners up to speed with everything their horse does from the day it comes into the stable to the day it leaves for a spell. Even then we conduct regular check ups on our spellers and provide updates on how your horse is doing in the paddock.
I send out regular text messages and e-mail every owner at least twice a month. I also tell all new clients that I am available 24hrs a day 7 days a week to discuss your horse’s progress on the telephone.
When I first started training one of my goals was to offer 1st class Trainer/Owner updates as this is one thing you always hear people say they never get at some of the bigger stables.
You are treated the same way as I would like to treated if I was an owner.
5) When can I see my horse(s)?
You are invited to visit Auburn Ark Stables to see your horse(s) as often as you like, just please ring and make an appointment prior to coming out to the stables. Friends and family are more than welcome to attend.
We also have regular organised stable visits, trackwork mornings, yearling parades and sausage sizzles for all stable clients, their families and friends
6) Does Auburn Ark Stables have its own racing colours? Can I choose my own racing colours?
As owners the decision is yours as to whether you choose to race in the Auburn Ark stable colours or you choose to have your own design made especially to your liking. This can be done by going to the following link and then following the instructions: www.gannons.com.au
7) When could I expect to receive a bill?
We invoice our clients in the first week of every month and kindly ask for payment within 14 days of receiving your invoice.
8) What privileges do I receive as an owner on raceday?
On any day that your horse is racing, you, as the owner, will gain complimentary entrance to the racecourse, (free entry for several guests is also usually available, within reasonable numbers). As an owner you will also be entitled to entry to the mounting enclosure for the race your horse is contesting, and access to all members’ facilties and owners grandstand seating for the day.
